Electrical Steel Coil – 50CS600/800/1000/1300 | CRGO & CRNGO Silicon Steel for Motor & Transformer Cores
Electrical Steel Coil (Silicon Steel)
Electrical steel coil — also called silicon steel — is the core material of every transformer, electric motor and generator. By alloying extra-low-carbon, low-nitrogen cold-rolled steel with silicon and precisely controlling the grain structure through hot rolling, cold reduction and annealing, we produce coils with low iron loss, high magnetic flux density and low magnetic aging — exactly what energy-efficient electrical machines demand.
CRGO vs CRNGO: Which Do You Need?
Electrical steel is divided into two families, and choosing the right one is the most important sourcing decision:
- CRGO (cold-rolled grain-oriented) — grains are aligned in the rolling direction, delivering the lowest iron loss for unidirectional flux. The standard choice for transformer cores, power reactors and high-efficiency stators.
- CRNGO (cold-rolled non-grain-oriented) — uniform magnetic properties in all directions, ideal for electric motor stators, generators, alternators and other rotating machines where the magnetic field changes direction.
Our engineering team helps you select the right family, grade, thickness and coating for your application — and can develop a tailored electrical steel solution based on your requirements.
How It Is Made
Our electrical steel coils use extra-low-carbon and low-nitrogen cold-rolled steel as the base metal. The coil is first processed through a special hot rolling, cold reduction and annealing cycle to develop its specific magnetic properties, then degreased with hot caustic, flushed with deionised water, and finally coated with an insulating film.
The insulating coating provides insulation, heat resistance, corrosion resistance, coolant-media resistance, collision resistance and weldability — giving the coil the low iron loss, high magnetic density and low magnetic aging that motor and transformer designers rely on.

Notes:
- The density is used for calculation of cross sectional area of test piece.
- Iron loss W15/50 means the iron loss when the frequency is 50HZ and the maximum magnetic flux density is 1.5T (1T = 1Wb/m²).
- Magnetic flux density B50 means the magnetic flux density at a magnetic field strength of 5000 A/m.
We produce the four core grades by magnetic property — 50A1300, 50A1000, 50A800 and 50A600 — and offer two insulating coatings: general hybrid coating film (C607) and anneal-resistant hybrid coating film (C627, C628). Custom grades and dimensions are available on request.
Available Sizes & Standards
- Sizes: standard thicknesses of 0.35 mm, 0.50 mm and 0.65 mm, with widths from 1,000 mm to 1,200 mm. Other sizes subject to negotiation.
